Our Home Safety & Comfort Check is a proactive walkthrough designed to help older homeowners stay confident, comfortable, and independent in their homes—without stress or disruption.
The Home Safety & Comfort Check is a regular, whole-home review focused on everyday safety and livability—not a formal inspection.
During a typical 1.5–2 hour service visit, part of our time is dedicated to walking through your home—inside and out—to look for common safety risks, comfort issues, and small problems that can quietly grow if left alone.
This check is included with every OAKRAA maintenance plan and happens automatically at each regular visit, so nothing gets overlooked.
Every home is different, but these are the areas we pay close attention to each visit:
Steps, railings, lighting, and trip hazards at the main entrance (front door and/or garage)
Rugs, walkways, and common fall risks throughout the home
Slip risks, fixtures, and everyday safety concerns
Furnace filter, smoke alarms (checked multiple times per year), fire extinguishers, sump pit
First aid kit, emergency contact information, and any existing safety features
Many homeowners are surprised to learn that things like loose rugs or dirty furnace filters are among the most common safety and comfort issues we find.
If we find something small that can be fixed, it’s often handled right away as part of your included handyman tasks under your maintenance plan.
If something needs more time, materials, or a licensed professional, we’ll clearly document it, explain your options, and provide a separate quote if needed.

A short, prioritized list of recommended future fixes
